Around 70 Avians employees took part in the Reykjavík Marathon last Saturday, running in support of Ljósið, a rehabilitation and support centre for people diagnosed with cancer and their families.
Employee participation exceeded all expectations, and it was fantastic to see so many people eager to contribute. The Avians runners set a collective fundraising goal of ISK 1 million for Ljósið but went well beyond their target.
The Reykjavík Marathon is one of Ljósið’s largest and most important annual fundraising events, making it especially meaningful for us to come together and support the important work carried out there every day.
Ljósið was chosen as the charity Avians would support through the marathon because cancer is something that touches most people’s lives in one way or another. Among our colleagues are people who have faced cancer themselves, as well as those who have supported loved ones through illness and treatment. It is therefore a cause that is close to the hearts of many within Avians.
We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful to everyone who ran, walked, cheered from the sidelines and contributed to the fundraising effort. Together, we not only exceeded our fundraising goal but also helped raise awareness of and support the invaluable work of Ljósið.
Thank you to everyone who took part and supported the cause!
