A solar eclipse will be visible in Iceland on the afternoon of August 12. There will be a total eclipse in the western part of the country, while elsewhere in Iceland a partial eclipse will cover 95-99% of the Sun.

The authorities have opened a shared information portal with practical information for the general public due to the total eclipse, including transportation, safety, and services.
On the Transport Authority's eclipse website you can find information about regulations for drone flights, sightseeing flights, and private flights.
Weather forecasts are becoming clearer and visual flight conditions are expected in the west of the country that day. Therefore, a significant number of private airplanes, parachutists, and ultralights are expected to travel to and from areas where the eclipse lasts the longest; Snæfellsnes in particular has been named as a destination for private and ultralight aircraft.
Considerable drone activity is also expected in the western part of the country.
The police will set up drone ban zones, which are published on the Transport Authority's website.
